The Pit of Porn - Part Four (The Cure)
“For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.” Isaiah 66:2 (KJV, emphasis mine)
In our first blog of this series, we identified pornography as a pit that people jumped into. We then examined the problem of porn and the power of a pure heart. In addition, we assessed and acknowledged the adverse consequences of porn in both a single and married person’s life. Now we will come to a close of our consideration on the pit of pornography by discussing the cure.
The magnitude of the malady of porn demands divine measures. First, the cure begins with the Master Jesus Christ the Lord and His ministry of His Spirit and His truth (the Scriptures) in the mind and heart of the soul that is a slave to porn. Jesus Christ is the only One that sets a captive free.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)
“Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.” Jeremiah 17:14 (KJV)
“Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.” Jeremiah 33:6 (KJV)
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.” Psalms 103:2-4 (KJV)

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Luke 4:18 (KJV)
The Lord Jesus is the only Person with the power to punch out and pulverize the pulling presence of porn.
Second, to be cured from the pit of pornography you must accept your personal responsibility to repent and provide a heart condition of contrition which is inseparable from humility.
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13 (KJV)
“I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.” Psalms 32:5 (KJV)
“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Psalms 34:18 (KJV)
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 (KJV)
In closing, let’s make it personal and practical.
- Come clean and confess your pornographic bondage to God (1 John 1:9).
- Petition God to purify and change your mind (Romans 12:2).
- Petition God to plug your mind with His thoughts and the ability to process in the power of the Spirit (Philippians 4:8).
- Aggressively acquire an attitude to possess your body in holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:3-4).
- Process a pure and proper sense of sex and look only to your soulmate to meet that need (1 Corinthians 7:1-5).
- Make it a reality to submit to the ruling influence of Divine government. This will prevent the encroachment of degenerate desires (Galatians 5:16).
- Initiate practical power steps (Spirit-led actions) to prevent your exposure to explicit images.
- Install pornography blockers on your computer, curb carnal channel surfing and shorten or if necessary shut down video or movie usage.
- Finally secure a war room (prayer closet) for prayer and a fellow prayer warrior that will sharpen you and hold you accountable.
