The Pit of Porn - Part Three
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” 2 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
It has been said, “Whatever captures the mind captures the man.” All throughout the ages Satan has used the lust of the flesh to capture the hearts and minds of men and women as well as demolish the mighty, the wise and the simple; from Adam to Sampson to Israelite Kings David and his son Solomon, as well as your common Joe and JoAnn Public. Pornography steals, kills and destroys relationships. The most important relationship that is incredibly injured and severely severed is our personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. The sin of porn punctures and separates us from God.
“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2 (KJV, emphasis mine)
The sexual sin of porn has Grand Canyon-sized consequences. Marriages are betrayed and decimated. Congregations are crushed over Pastors that have leapt into the pit of porn. The pervasive proliferation of porn affects all citizens and classes professions, even at the highest echelons of government.
A very lucid consequence for the unmarried man is that porn pollutes his heart and fixes his heart into frowardness (perversity) as it relates to our God’s intentions with respect to sexual intimacy. And our true Holy Father fiercely frowns on frowardness.
“A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.” Psalms 101:4 (KJV)
“For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.” Proverbs 3:32 (KJV)
“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” Proverbs 8:13 (KJV)
According to God’s divine and deliberate design, sexual intimacy should be situated in the marital union of a man and women.
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis 2:24 (KJV)
A man’s sexual fulfillment is fixed and found in marriage.
Consider with me this profound, poetic but powerful passage that conveys the perfect platform and place for sexual expression and intimacy. It is also provides effective measures for protection for one’s marital relationships and safeguards souls from being swallowed by the pit of porn.
“Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?” Proverbs 5:15-20 (KJV)
For the unmarried and the married man, this is God’s plan. Excessive exposure to porn encourages evil and extreme expectations for marriage and there by eviscerates real, rich and rewarding relations between a man and his wife.
Another consequence is that Porn produces a man that dismantles the dignity and divine design of women. With licentious lenses he looks to only gratify his debased desires. Consequently, this will eventually cause him to be dumped in a ditch of discontentment because in his delusion he tries to placate needs outside God’s design. As a result he is fixed in frustration and futility.
Porn defiles the marriage bed and tramples trust. This wicked work wounds the witness of the gospel before the world. Porn is spiritual and physical adultery that incarcerates one in ignorance and rewards souls in a sea of ruin and reproach.
“But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.” Proverbs 6:32-33 (KJV)
