Advancing a New Attitude for the New Year

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:23-24

Last Monday marked the start of a New Year. And it’s realistic and reasonable that we find ourselves now reserved in a reflective position over the past year.

It's very plausible that many of us experienced unexpected trials and triumphs (events) that developed and departed but continue to touch us as well as influence us to some degree. As believers, we know that this reality is not a matter of if but when.

James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers’ temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Hopefully, our trials and triumphs over the past year instructed us about Trusting God, Tying our heads and hearts to His Truth, and Traveling (in this life) with Thanksgiving.

Conversely, carnal processing can cause you to promote protest toward God and His word and walk you into broken fellowship with the Lord and others. Or maybe you capitulated to the cry of the culture. (Look out for number one) And consequently, your self-centeredness suspended the leadership of the Holy Spirit and as a result, the iniquitous imitator of a leader (Feelings and flesh) partnered with the Devil directed you to believe that you and your personal pain, problems, and positions and pursuits are bigger than God. However, it’s the power of a Biblical worldview and the strength of the Spirit that will not just stymie but shut down the sinful seduction of self. Like John, we should cement ourselves to the commitment that we find in John 3:30. He must increase, but I must decrease.

I respectfully submit to you that the deception that comes from the heart (Jeremiah 17:9) has led you to dating, dancing, and a devotion to despair.

Furthermore, you find yourself dumped and duped by depression. Depression deliberately and defiantly declares that God is small and helpless to help you, therefore, you must help yourself to some more hopelessness.

I know this looks and sounds like a detour from the topic at hand; however, I BELIEVE THE LORD IS LEADING and speaking to a soul that needs not just a solution but salvation and some sound stability of the soul. Decide to reject the derision directed to the truth which the depression has delivered to you. Ask (Pray) for God to give you the will to walk away from the wrongful thinking and defeat the deception of despair. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (Being crucified For the complete forgiveness of your sins) AND HIS RESURRECTION AND RETURN. Repent, reject, and remove yourself from the people, places, and things (notable nouns) that locked into leading you away from the Lord.

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

God’s word gives us the hope that we can truly believe in because that Hope is Christ.

Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

In closing, be purposeful to practice and possess a head and heart of humility, and you will be resolute in reserving an attitude of ascendency that will advance the Lord’s attitude and authority over your actions in this New Year!

Not a sermon, just some thoughts.
