Traveling with Thankful Thoughts

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. 1Chronicles 16:34

The month of November marks my wife and I’s favorite time of the year. We relish in the rich Cornucopia of colors (Burnt reds, Browns, Oranges, Yellows, and Golds) which fix us in the favor of the Fall season. And if you came to my home address the colors of the Fall day would be on display. And to make things extra nice you will smell the splendid, sweet scent of Pumpkin Spice from the plug ins in the outlets on the walls. P.T.L for our wives! The home is their wheelhouse because they make the home look and smell wonderful!

November also brings busy holiday travel. Countless Americans will hit the highways or pop on a plane over the next two months to see family and friends for some favorable food, fun and fellowship.  And according to the American Automobile Association (AAA) predicts that Thanksgiving travel will reach pre-pandemic levels with an estimated 53.4 million people hitting the roads.

Lord willing, my wife and I as well as one of our sons will be flying some faith filled friendly skies to Colorado. Therefore, my heart is to have all those who are traveling or even those who are staying put to possess and promote some Thankful Thoughts for the Holiday season. This is a marvelous way to mitigate the stress as well as being overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle that is deliberate in dragging you down and displacing your disposition of joy.

To assist us in attaining and acting with some thankful thoughts for this season, we will implement the following tool (acrostic): T.H.A.N.K.S which represents six thoughts to sync our heads and hearts in gratitude or thankfulness.

Truth

Holiness

Authority

Needs

Kingdom

Spirit

*TRUTH- When we turn our thoughts to the absolute fact that God is the source of truth and (His word) is truth it will produce thankful thoughts.

Psalm 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

*HOLINESS - When we have HIS holiness and make it a habit to hold and help yourself to HIS Holiness we will be gripped by gratitude.

Leviticus 20:7 Sanctify yourselves therefore and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

*AUTHORITY- When we willingly walk under and walk in His authority, appreciation for order, protection and direction advances an attitude of gratitude.

2 Chronicles 20:6 And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

*NEEDS – We produce thankful thoughts when we know that GOD is the only one to meet all our needs.

Psalms 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

*KINGDOM – To know that we are citizens of a Kingdom that will never end will strongly encourage thankful thoughts.

Psalm 145:13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

*SPIRIT – By Faith and not my feelings we are THANKFUL to know that we are born again, by HIS Spirit. And the Spirit of God gives us the power and presence of the Lord God.

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

When we travel with THANKFUL THOUGHTS, we will enjoy A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Not a sermon, just some thoughts.

For the Glory of God,
