Supplement or Savior and Lord?
I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. - Isaiah 43:11 (KJV)
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention more than half of U.S. adults use dietary supplements which consist of multivitamins, minerals and herbs. As a result, Americans are spending an astronomical amount of money on supplements. The Vitamins, Minerals, and Supplements (VMS) industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. In 2012, this industry produced about $32 billion in revenue for just nutritional supplements alone. According to the Nutritional Business Journal, this industry is projected to supplant that total in 2021 and is expected to generate a staggering total of $60 billion in revenue.
In a similar sense, what I find interesting is that many of us will run to another resource of health in the same way as drugs. But this resource is not regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Instead, it is the most deceptive and unreliable resource in our existence today. Even more alarming is that we often secure answers from this resource! This resource is an unregenerate heart, not regulated by the Holy Spirit.
The producers of supplements do not have to prove if their product is safe or effective. In addition, you really cannot be sure of all the ingredients in that pill of personal provisional prevention against sickness, disease and poor nutritional habits. Conversely, we know what the absolute authority (God) has told us what is in our heart that leads us to sin, poor decision making, destructive lifestyles and hellified habits from which no supplement or pill can save us!
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” - Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV)
"For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.” - Mark 7:21-23 (KJV)
Question: Is the Lord Jesus Christ your personal Savior and Lord or have you reduced Him to a simple spiritual supplement? It's very unfortunate to witness the way that people walk in their profession of faith today. The Lord Jesus is treated as someone I make time for or implement when I need Him to meet some intellectual, emotional, relational or social deficiency in my life. He becomes disposable as opposed to the dominate decision maker in my life!
Dear deeply loved by God, we must not allow the pressure and pulls from this polluted world to cause us to promote our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as just another VMS! Can you imagine drowning in the ocean and you called out for help and the life guard threw you a dietary supplement instead of a floating device that could save your life? When we called out to Jesus to save us from the deep, cold and dark ocean of sin, He answered and immediately came to our rescue! Therefore just as His love lifted us from death, we deeply desire to declare Him as Lord and Saviour!!! Review and receive the report of the Scriptures:
"I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.” - Isaiah 43:11
"Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? Who hath told it from that time? Have not I the LORD? And there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.” - Isaiah 45:21 (KJV)
"Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope” - 1 Timothy 1:1 (KJV)
"To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.” - Titus 1:4 (KJV)
"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen” - 2 Peter 3:18 (KJV)
A good number of professing Christians embrace Jesus and Savior but eject the biblical mandate that He must also be Lord.
"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." - Matthew 7:21 (KJV)
Therefore, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:
In our life, be lifted high
In our world, be lifted high
In our love be lifted high
Higher and higher!
For the Glory of God,
