Addressing COVID-19 With A Christian Conscience And Attitude

Have you considered that we are living in a captivated culture? Uninvited ubiquitous feelings of bewilderment, worry, hopelessness, anxiety, anger, apathy, selfishness, grief, depression, insolence, and disappointment act as voracious viruses that consume the consciences of countless minds. Without question a major catalyst to our compromised consciences is the reporting of the current global pandemic which has been identified as the invisible enemy COVID-19 virus, also known as Coronavirus. Major metropolitan streets that once teemed with masses of humanity have vanquished. Immense multimillion-dollar industries and colossal corporations have closed or modified their operations. The economy is being eviscerated on many levels. In addition, we see a full and fast-flow fire hydrant of hysteria perpetuated by the media’s coverage of COVID-19.  These disquieting dispositions purge our peace and cloud our consciousness. Consequently, we are considerably vulnerable to being captured by a culture caught in pervasive poison of fear.

I submit to you again that the ongoing onslaught of media coverage coupled with your religious viewership will act as a vice that relentlessly robs us of our peace and freedom. Let me remind you, deeply loved by God: our Lord Jesus Christ can cancel out the captivity of our conscience caused by fear.  He has also placed His presence in our hearts and minds. Thereby we possess the power of peace.

“For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.” Isaiah 54:10 (KJV)

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 (KJV)

“The spirit of the lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Luke 4:18 (KJV)

So it is imperative that we be intentional in constantly considering what Christ Jesus has said in the Scriptures and what He has called us to do during this pandemic.  In addition, by his grace we will walk in His gift (the Holy Spirit), process the current events with His mind and purpose to position ourselves in His power and presence. This way we will promote a pristine picture of our profession of faith – something the world desperately needs to see.

Our attitude in adverse times should not advertise anxiety. Our absolute Authority has arrested our souls allowing our consciences to be captured by compassion and peace.

For the Glory of God,
