A Divine Directive For Times Of Distress - Part Two (2)

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” Luke 6:46 (KJV)

In last week’s blog, we were encouraged to be glad or rejoice in the Lord in all circumstances.

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” Philippians 4:4 (KJV)

In my spiritual journey, God has prompted me on numerous occasions to be more deliberate in my discernment when the Word of God mentions a directive more than once. Did you notice that the Apostle Paul made it a paramount issue when he told us to rejoice twice?

The distinction between hearing and doing outlined in this week’s text parallels a similar distinction between confession and obedience outlined another related passage:

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21 (KJV)

Therefore, we have the divine directive to obey Paul’s exhortation by rejoicing in the Lord always.
To equip us in exercising obedience, I have provided seven ways to encourage the experience of rejoicing in the Lord. Embracing these statements in extremely difficult times and when experiencing extraordinary events will lead us to supernaturally inspired joy.

  1. We are able to rejoice in times of distress because we have eternal life and can never lose it.

  2. We are able to rejoice in times of distress because God loves us as much as He loves Jesus Christ.

  3. We are able to rejoice in times of distress because Jesus Christ has paid it all and all to Him we owe.

  4. We are able to rejoice in times of distress because God is our Heavenly Father.

  5. We are able to rejoice in times of distress because the Holy Spirit of God abides in us, advances and advises us (AAA) offering us a “triple A” blessing in our lives.

  6. We are able to rejoice in times of distress because God is our refuge, strength, strong tower and immediate help when we are in difficulty and danger.

  7. We are able to rejoice in times of distress because He is in control of every aspect of our lives.

Concentrating on Christ in you will cause you to rejoice in challenges and crises.

For the Glory of God,
