The Lord's Light Legitimizes Your Life
“Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.” Isaiah 50:10 (KJV)
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes, Let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with you
The opening of today’s blog lifts us with a lovely and wonderful song of worship. It has marvelously ministered to millions of worshipers since its release on December 24, 2001. It reminds us that our Lord Jesus declared that He is the light of the world:
“I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12c (KJV, emphasis added)
From the Word of God, we witness that the Lord’s Light is always active in the removal of darkness, specifically removing darkness in the world and your mind and heart. In the opening passages of the Holy scriptures, in the Genesis account, we read:
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Genesis 1:3 (KJV)
In addition, the Word of God never encourages the thought that darkness is equal in power to God's light. God is the absolute Ruler who rules over the darkness and the powers of evil.
“In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1:4-5 (KJV)
According to the aforementioned text, the Lord Jesus Christ by His holy power and influence has the ability to take hold of the human mind and will, in order to alert our attention to and exercise His authority in our lives.
In addition, in Isaiah 50:10, the Messiah, the Lord Jesus, points His people into the path of light, calling us to faith in the name of the LORD and exhorting us to fix our eyes, mind and heart upon our God.
Having established Jesus Christ as the Light of the Word, we can then make the application point that the way we live legitimizes His Light is in us.
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 John1:5-7 (KJV)
Consider with me a couple of closing thoughts about the Lord’s legitimate work in our life and how His Light legitimizes us!
The Lord delivered us from the Dark:
Deceived: to be deceived is to believe something that is not true
Arrogant: arrogance displays an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities
Rebellious: a rebellious spirit shows a desire to resist authority and control or convention (the way in which something is usually done)
Knave: a knave is a dishonest or unscrupulous person, a wretch
And He Legitimized us when He led us to the Light:
Love
“But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.” Psalm 5:11 (KJV, emphasis added)
Innocent
“And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.” Colossians 1:21-22 (KJV, emphasis added)
Goodness
“They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.” Psalm 145:7 (KJV, emphasis added)
Holiness
“Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.” Psalm 97:12 (KJV, emphasis added)
Truth
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 (KJV, emphasis added)
We were down and dead in the dark, but the Light of the Lord lifted us out of the dark and led us to a legitimate life!
For the Glory of God,
