Abiding under the Lord’s Authority: Part 3

Abiding under the Lord’s Authority: Part 3

And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. Mark 1:27

In my early days as a follower of Jesus Christ I was blessed to participate in a neighborhood outreach in Woodbury, New Jersey. I had never participated in a group outreach before so I was nervous but excited to see what the Lord would do in the lives we were purposing to win for Christ. Soul winning weekend was a great opportunity to witness the work of the Holy Spirit of everyone that heard the Gospel, but it was also a blessing to see how he would work in my heart as well.  Specifically obeying the call to win souls for Christ.

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Before we began canvassing the neighborhood house to house for Christ, we spent some substantial time in prayer, praised the Lord in song and challenged with a message from the Pastor.

Forty-one years have passed from that day, but I can still hear that preacher say, “JESUS CHRIST PAID THE COST TO BE MY BOSS!” In other words the Lord Jesus Christ is not only our blessed and only Savior, but He also has the absolute right to be the authority in our lives.

Allow me to make it plain for you. Jesus Christ the Lord is the ultimate authority on every aspect of our lives. How we think, love, eat, dress, serve and minister and live in this world. He also has the right to direct your politics, work and profession, Faith and spirituality, family (who to marry and parenting), finances, social life, entertainment, and recreation.

Furthermore , in the word of God, we see the Lord exercising his authority over the storm, sea, sickness, death and demons.

Mark 4:39-41 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Matthew 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

Luke 7:13-15 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

In closing I ask you to consider the commander/authority in your life. Who is in charge in the command center of your head and heart? Challenge that authority’s right to rule over your life with the following:  Has he decreed destruction and damnation to the devil, the demons and the damned? Has God the Father given him a name that is above all names and a Kingdom that will never end? Did God the Father say to your authority, But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Hebrews 1:8.
