A Spiritual and Special Seniors Moment, Part 4

A SPIRITUAL AND SPECIAL SENIORS MOMENT, PART 4

And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season. Luke 1:20

From our time together we discovered that as a spiritual and special senior, Zacharias experienced a moment of a lifetime when he was selected for the offering of incense at the holy place.

But there was a moment where this special senior was not so special. You would think that the appearance of an angel and the announcement of God’s Word, which was an answer of prayer for this senior couple (the birth of a son), would boost Zacharias’s belief, but it did not. He substituted seeing God by faith with seeing God by sight. Consequently, he suspended his faith when he succumbed to what he saw in the natural. In his mind and heart of unbelief two seniors at this season in their life were beyond bringing a baby boy into this world.

I respectfully submit to you that like Zacharias many of us have picked up the umbrella of unbelief, opened it, and thereby prevented the showers of blessing that God wants to pour in our lives.

Like Zacharias, we are truly suspecting Sovereign God’s capability to complete His own Word!  Is it possible that his progression of thought pointed out that his physical limitations would hold back the hand of Almighty God?

As a result of embracing his fleshly and faithless conclusions this senior of faith found himself catching some consequences for not believing the word of God that came from Gabriel.  God dropped him in dumbness and deafness.

Luke 1:20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

Just as the angel (Gabriel) declared, Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months she parked herself in privacy. About a month later her Cousin Mary came to visit, and as Mary entered the house, Elizabeth heard her greeting. Since she was filled with the Spirit and her preborn baby leaped in praise, she was also informed by our infinite God the purpose of Mary’s visit (Luke 1:24-25).

In Luke 1:45 Elizabeth emphasized Mary's faith: “Blessed is she that believed.” But the man of God, a priest, had parked himself in unbelief. And because Mary believed the Word of God, she experienced the power and blessing of God.

In closing, When we believe the Word of God the Spirit WILL REWARD US WITH RICH AND SPECIAL MOMENTS THAT OUR GOD HAS ORDAINED FOR US TO EXPERIENCE.

Not a sermon, just some thoughts.
