Plugging into the Power of Palm Sunday

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. Zechariah 9:9

Usually, our United States Calendar will have 52 or 53 Sundays contingent on a leap year which will have 366 days as opposed to 365 days.

Some Sundays are more prominent than others. There are first Sundays and for Professional (American) Football enthusiast Super Sundays. However, for the faithful followers of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ we celebrate and praise God for Palm Sunday and the following Sunday RESURRECTION SUNDAY!

For this week’s blog we will process and plug into the Power Palm Sunday.

Palm Sunday is the day we commemorate the triumphal entrance of the Lord Jesus into Jerusalem, which is one week before His resurrection. Palm Sunday sets the start of what is regularly referred to as “Passion Week”. Passion week is the final seven days of our Lord Jesus’ earthly service and ministry.

As Jesus traveled toward Jerusalem, an enormous and enthusiastic crowd congregated around Him.  This spectacular and soul stirred crowd spread their cloaks on the road, in addition to cutting branches from the trees spreading them on the road.

Our Lord’s victorious entry into Jerusalem was resonating with reverence and celebration and supplication. The crowd’s supplication revealed that the people longed for liberation from the oppressing occupation of Rome. The masses looked for a Messiah who would liberate them politically and nationally, but the Lord Jesus had come to save them as well as the whole world spiritually.

Matthew 18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptations, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

About 450 to 500 years before the Lord’s advent in Jerusalem, the prophet Zechariah had prophesied this triumphant event that we currently call Palm Sunday.

Nevertheless, the crowd that clothed the path that Christ traveled with their coats and cut down palm branches for the procession of praise will be found to be fickle as opposed to faithful. By the end of the week their cries of Hosanna will horribly change to CRUCIFY him.

Matthew 27:22–23 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

Today a tremendous number of people miss the Messiah because they are mastered and directed by deceitful desires. They look for Jesus to Give them power and popularity, wealth, and wellbeing. In addition, some would even give praise to secure what they seek. This praise is disingenuous. But the day is coming when the almighty will bring about authentic worship!

Philippians 2:9–11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

In closing let’s purpose to proceed and plug into Passion week in prayer and pure praise for our redemption!
