Christmas Lights starts with Christ
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12
Last Thursday December 1, 2022, the first day of the last month of the year was the day I devoted to completing the hanging of our Christmas lights.
Composer George Wyle's ``It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” will be played all around us with an assortment of artists arresting our attention. Johnny Mathis’s rendition is reserved in my heart as my favorite. However, regardless of your preference this Holiday classic is etched in our minds and embraced in our hearts as a traditional musical treasure.
And this year is especially wonderful with the arrival of our first grandbaby’s first Christmas visit with us. Hence, Yours truly emphatically embraced the merry moniker of (Pop Pop). In addition, my wife has been gifted with the glorious moniker (Gammy). So, Pop Pop and Gammy are excited for our grandbaby’s (girl) visit as well as our son and his wife. So, Pop Pop prayed to His God to give him some heavenly hinds (deer) feet as he scaled the roof top to hang up those seasonal Christmas lights.
The text in the title of this week’s blog turns to the transcendent truth that our Lord and God Jesus Christ is the true light that can divide and conquer the darkness in this world and the darkness in the heads and hearts of people.
So many minds and hearts are clothed in confusion, saturated in sin, and are drinking too deeply from a goblet of gloom and grief. The world’s fountains of falsehood have swept away immeasurable souls suffering with fear and heavy hopelessness.
My hope and prayer is that our grandbaby and others will know that each and every light that is attached to our house this (HAPPY HOLYDAY SEASON) will remind people to reach for the light of the world (Jesus). Christmas Lights starts with Christ.
Psalm 36:9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
Psalms 118:27a God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light.
Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Hang your lights so high that all can see his:
Love- He has for us.
Intercession- He makes for us.
Goodness – He gives us.
Hope – He placed in our heads and hearts.
Truth- He gives and guides us with.
Spirit- He gave us to be a partaker of eternal life.
Not a sermon, just some thoughts.
For the Glory of God,
