Honoring The Holy One With Your Vote
“And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.” 2 Chronicles 19:2 (KJV, emphasis added)
Before I begin this week’s blog, I want to thank you and ask God to bless all of you that have made it a weekly commitment to connect and give consideration to what the good Lord has led me to share. This week I will enter in the Presidential 2020 election discourse. Before we embark on the topic of elections, it is plausible that many of us have been advised to avoid the topics of politics and religion with others. And before you decide to close the door that leads to your head and your heart, I ask you to give me some grace and “Let’s Go There” with respect to how saints should vote.
I respectfully submit to you that this year’s election, just little over two weeks away, is not only a choice between a Republican, a Democrat or even an Independent candidate. As citizens of Christ the Lord’s Kingdom, through our vote, we will determine if we will assist an anti-Christian culture and condescend into complicity or make the decision to contend for faith, family and freedom (religious and individual rights). For the follower of Jesus Christ, we are exhorted to make a stand for those positions that honor God:
“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jude 1:3-4 (KJV)
I believe the battlefield of contending for the faith extends from ecclesiology to the exercise of freedoms that have been established and encourage by our constitution (which our Sovereign and beloved God has blessed). However, too many of us have been hiding from the political process (voting), are parking in a pacifistic perspective and caught in a carnal coma. Consequently, our country is fundamental being transformed with a socialistic ideology marked by the machinations of Marxism. Therefore, my fellow believers, the Word of God calls us with a sense of urgency to do the right thing and vote for the things that are right in the sight of God.
“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” Romans 13:11-14 (KJV)
Let us be intentional in putting on the mind of Jesus Christ and performing like Him at the ballot box. We must throw out the attitudes and actions that are attached to apathy because an attitude of apathy and your absenteeism in elections assists the ungodly. And according to our opening text, in refusing to promote a biblical agenda in today’s culture, you are engaging and embracing the world.
When we do not vote, the dark forces and antichrist agenda are not repelled but rewarded. Consequently, what we as believers respect and revere: God, sanctity of life, protection of children from socialist engineering that endangers (i.e. transgender ideology), marriage that is designed by God, Christ-centered homes, and the right to worship, will be regarded as rubbish and ripped away.
When we do not cast a vote guided by Christ’s conscience, we will continue to cast our country into confusion, chaos, catastrophe, and condemnation. Join me again next week when we continue our discussion on honoring the Holy One with your vote.
For the Glory of God,
PBKSR
