Walking in Wisdom with Those Void of Wisdom - Part One
“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 4:5-6 (KJV)
For this week’s blog I invite you to consider with me the essentiality of exercising wisdom with those in this world who are void of wisdom. Those in the world without wisdom connotes the condition of men and women who walk with a will that cancels communion with God. Our opening text identifies individuals that are without; without means “without, out of doors.” Therefore, those without wisdom are outside the doors of both religion and a relationship with God.
This condition of being without God is the consequence of a conscience that consistently suppresses the truth of God. The Apostle Paul powerfully points out this pervasive and prideful practice of putting down the truth of God’s personal prowess in Creation.
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.” Romans 1:18-22 (KJV, emphasis added)
Scripture soundly shares that the source of all true wisdom is supernatural. The first step to securing wisdom is to embrace and exercise the fear of the Lord.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10 (KJV)
King Solomon, the author of most of the book of Proverbs, was an Israelite king who was known for his unparalleled wisdom. He is also known for constructing the first Temple of Jerusalem. He enjoys esteemed reverence by the adherents of biblical Christianity as well as Judaism. Even the followers of Islam view King Solomon as a prophet. King Solomon stated that wisdom comes from God.
“For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6 (KJV)
According to the Word of God (Scripture), wisdom is real religion and godliness. In addition, wisdom is the knowledge and fear of God as well as genuine, collective, and complete obedience to His commands. One cannot secure the wisdom that is essential for engaging with those without wisdom if he or she is not born from above.
“Jesus answered and said unto him, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’” John 3:3 (KJV)
Scripture also emphatically teaches that authentic wisdom starts in the supernatural with the Spirit of God. So when Solomon stated, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom” (Proverbs 4:7), he was calling us to commit to pursuing God’s wisdom. This essential wisdom cannot be obtained through science, philosophy, the arts or even our own interpretation of our personal life events and experiences. True wisdom comes from God, by revelation. What does Scripture say?
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5 (KJV)
In the body of Christ, it should be unanimous and considerably conclusive that we all need God’s wisdom to walk with those without wisdom. Join me next time as we continue to procure the profoundness of the truth!
