Moving from a Blessed to Busted Nation - Part Two
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Psalms 9:17 (KJV, emphasis added)
In last week’s blog, I asked you to consider with me the concept that our nation is transitioning from being a blessed nation to a busted nation. Before we engage the concept let us explore the examples of faith from the framers of this Republic that have rewarded us with blessedness. The Founding Fathers or framers of this country fixed themselves in the faith and fact that there was a God and with Him all things are possible. They also put forth that a blessed nation is a nation that feared God and followed His commandments. What can we learn from American history?
“And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.” - Thomas Jefferson
“Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God ... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be.” - John Adams - Second U.S. President and Signer of the Declaration of Independence
“I have examined all religions, and the result is that the Bible is the best book in the world.” - John Adams - Second U.S. President and Signer of the Declaration of Independence
"Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual. ... Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us." John Hancock, First Signer of the Declaration of Independence
Now consider with me what God’s Word says about how a Nation is blessed.
“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14:34 (KJV)
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” Psalms 33:12 (KJV)
“For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for? And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?” Deuteronomy 4:7-8 (KJV)
One can confidently conclude that our Nation which is comprise of a constitutionally-cemented Republic has revered God in the past and always remembered His statues and commandments. Therefore, I respectfully declare that we will transition from a blessed nation to a busted nation when we are faithful in forgetting God.
I hope you will join me next time for the conclusion of this thought.
For the Glory of God,
