A Message From The Mountains

“Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?” Isaiah 40:12 (KJV, emphasis added)

Just recently my wife and I had an exquisite excursion in the Rocky Mountains. As South Floridians we are fixed in flatness and are situated in a sea level environment. We love the sunshine and the sea. However, the mountains created a change of scenery which sang to our souls and guided us to be still and take in the greatness of our God.

Although our lungs asserted themselves to make an adjustment as we made the assent to 12,000 feet (by automobile of course), our breath was taken away by the vastness and monumental majesty of the mountainous and transcending topography. In addition, the aspen trees arrested our attention and gently gripped us with their golden leaves. The leaves of the aspen tree turn yellowish gold in the fall, generating a striking scenery.

In the Word of God, God our Father employs the picture of mountains to assist us in processing His greatness, causing us to pause to punctuate His power and position of authority in our lives. Furthermore, I believe mountains can be monumental in producing a faith in God that is gigantic and glorious as opposed to small and sinkable.

“The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.” Nahum 1:5 (KJV)

“And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.” Micah 1:4 (KJV)

“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.Matthew 17:20b (KJV)

With our hearts pounding with praise, we stopped the car and positioned ourselves on a platform for a panoramic perspective. In my heart I took great pride and joy in my Father’s immense investment in His creation!!

God measures and weighs mountains. Therefore, let’s purpose to have mountain-sized faith.
