What to do in 2022: Dress in Discernment
“When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:” Proverbs 2:10-11 (KJV, emphasis added)
It’s a little over a week into this new year but one would be challenged to remove oneself mentally, emotionally, and spiritually from the unprecedented events that we had to endure and embrace in 2021. Let me call your attention to a few issues that have incited many: incessant tyranny, constitutional violations and encroachments, division and identity politics, racial tension and conflict, hostility, apathy, politicization, polarization, confusion, and tribalism. Marxist, socialist, and communist ideologies are not just establishing a foothold but have embedded and entrenched itself in our federal, state, and local officials’ offices. In addition, our institutions of medicine, science, arts and entertainment, education, media, and justice system have incurred this insidious infection.
We also have seen our U.S. borders continue to be overwhelmed and obliterated by a torrent tidal wave of trespassers. Governmental bureaucracies have bludgeoned us with Covid-19 measures such as vaccine and mask mandates that continue to be employed as a clandestine and contemptible channel for consuming our constitutional rights. We have seen the government usurp God-given parental authority and the oversight of their children’s education. Inflation that was deemed as temporary and transitory continues to traffic its terrible impact on the families as we see food and fuel prices at a historic high. Another historic high is marked by the levels of crime in our major cities and suburbs. A hurricane of homicides is ubiquitously wreaking havoc in our nation. Our highest political platforms of government and media have been infested with the poison and perversion of pedophilia (FBI, CNN). While the government focuses on COVID-19 and promotes protocols to keep us “safe”, the number one cause of death worldwide is abortion.
According to Worldometer Real time world statistics, the leading causes of death 2021 were ranked as following:
Abortion (42.6 million)
Cancer (8.2 million)
Smoking-related deaths (5 million)
Coronavirus (3.5 million alleged deaths)
Car accidents (1.3 million)
Suicide (1 million)
So, what will you do in 2022? I exhort you to dress yourself in discernment. According to the Webster Dictionary (1828 edition), discernment is the act of discerning; also, the power or faculty of the mind, by which it distinguishes one thing from another, as truth from falsehood, virtue from vice; acuteness of judgment; power of perceiving differences of things or ideas, and their relations and tendencies. The errors of youth often proceed from the want of discernment.
Our text declares an essential discipline: Daily open your heart to the fear of God which is the beginning of wisdom and in doing so, delight divine instruction. Practically speaking, read your bible and practice what it says. Don’t a stay-cay in “Foolsville”.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7 (KJV)
Purpose to humble yourself and place yourself under biblical instruction and spiritual influence. You will find that discretion shall preserve you and understanding shall keep you in 2022.
For the Glory of God,
