Connecting with Christ-Centered Company - Part Two

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” Proverbs 13:20 (KJV)

Last week, I shared an essential element in the life of believer: connecting with Christ-Centered company. When we connect with Christ-centered company, we will capitalize on blessings as opposed to curses or calamity. When we fellowship with the faithful, we will visit and establish a vault of godly values as opposed to investing and withdrawing from a bank of moral bankruptcy. Christ-centered connections will cause us to glean in the fields of favor as opposed to languishing in the lots of the lost.

Therefore, the people we pursue, promote and park with will affect us significantly. Man-centered and fleshly-fixed individuals will influence you and invite you to their insolence and indifference toward God. They won’t just interfere with your intimacy with God but will also carry you away in their intoxication of iniquity.

Consider what the word of God states:

“A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth. Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.” Proverbs 14:6-7 (KJV)

“Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways and get a snare to thy soul.” Proverbs 22:24-25 (KJV)

In addition, hear King David share his heart, someone known as a man after God’s own heart, with respect to keeping company with those who are not Christ-centered.

“I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.” Psalm 26:4-5 (KJV)

It must be noted, however, that God has called us to evangelize.

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 (KJV)

But if someone declines to take heed and continues in their evil ways, make a move of wisdom walk away and wait on the Lord. If you don’t, you will continue to wrestle and waste time with them or even pick up their ways. Bottom line: when we associate with or take pleasure in the company of people with worldly standards, we will suspend our sanctification and sync ourselves to their behaviors, their language, and their habits.

So, it’s essential that we exercise wisdom and walk in the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God will solidify and sanctify what you do with your time as well as with whom you spend time. Christ-centered connection will keep you attached to Heaven. Carnal-centered connections will keep you attached to the world.
