Dressed to Kill (the Flesh)
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Romans 8:13
Are you aware that the word of God instructs and calls us to be anointed assassins? As our opening passage points out, if we continue to cement ourselves in the conduct and condition of our sinful human condition, it will cause us to die if we don’t kill it. So, we need to be DRESSED TO KILL (THE FLESH) that is the habits of the head and heart that are hostile towards God and His word.
According to Idioms by the free dictionary, to be dressed to kill is defined as someone, especially a woman, is dressed to kill, when they are wearing very smart or attractive clothes which are intended to attract attention and impress people.
Therefore, since we have secured new lives in Christ, all believers are called to crucify the flesh by clothing ourselves with clothes that come from the closet of Christ- The shelf of our Savior for the purpose of Blessing and impressing the Lord.
Colossians 3:1-5 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.3 For ye are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Mortify means to make dead, to put to death, slay. I submit to you that when we are dressed to kill, we dress to impress the Lord.
In addition, the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke testify about a woman with a bleeding condition for 12 years who impressed the Lord with her faith (Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-34, Luke 8:43-48). The Roman centurion impressed Jesus with his faith in Matthew 8:5-10. We get to impress the Lord with our FASHION OF FAITH!
In our next time together, we will examine the wardrobe of the world and why we should dress in the Divine designer clothing and because of doing so we will be dressed to Kill.
