SPIRITUAL STEPS TO SEVER THE LOOPS OF SPIRITUAL LETHARGY

Spiritual Steps to Sever the Loops of Spiritual Lethargy

Only fear the LORD and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24

 I am still absolutely amazed of God’s Goodness, Mercy, and Grace that he started and continues to give to me in my 41 years of deliverance penalty of my sin (Eternal separation from GOD) and Eternal salvation through Jesus Christ the Lord.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Titus 3:5-6 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

Having stated that I respectfully and honestly submit to you that even the most loyal followers of the Lord have been looped by lethargy and consequently needed to be loose and lifted from Spiritual lethargy.

Question, have you ever given any exploration or examination to the snare of Spiritual lethargy?  In my time of serving as an under shepherd of the Lord I have heard on numerous occasions from the heads and hearts of spiritual hurting souls the following: “I am not on fire for the Lord like I used to be when I  was initially saved” “I don’t feel as confident or close in my walk with the Lord lately” “My prayer life and devotional life is listless” and finally “I find the Bible to be boring at this point in my spiritual journey”

This is not an exhausted list of statements shared by souls shuttered in place by spiritual lethargy. But you get the point that this is a prevalent problem in the spiritual lives of believers.

In A. W. Tozer’s Book The Dangers of a Shallow Faith: Awakening from Spiritual Lethargy A. W. Tozer describes what I refer to as a deceptive ditch of spiritual lethargy perfectly: “there is little communion and little joy in the Lord. To have a cold heart with little pity, little fire, little love and little worship is spiritual lethargy.”

In addition, according to an article from Grace Theological Seminary the following list reflects some of the most recurring symptoms of spiritual lethargy.

*Chronic indulgence in sinful thoughts and actions

*Little or no desire to pray

*Engagement in exclusively Christ-less entertainment

*Avoidance of personal accountability

*Decreased appetite for Bible study

*Selfish and materialistic orientation

*Reluctant and sporadic church attendance

Maybe you have been smitten or still stuck and sinking in this manipulative miry clay of spiritual lethargy.  The Lord Jesus is our absolute liberator so join me next time as we consider Spiritual steps to Sever the Loops of Spiritual Lethargy.
