Determining to Destroy Strongholds

2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;

According to the Webster’s 1828 Dictionary the term warfare is defined as a struggle with spiritual enemies. And in the word of God, there were numerous occasions where the people of God were at war with physical and spiritual enemies. Below is a single portion of the plethora of passages that points us to the people of God confronted with warfare with their physical and spiritual enemies.

1 Samuel 28:1 And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men

In addition, from the saints that is those who are (supernaturally converted and transformed loyalist to the Lord Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit) standpoint, spiritual warfare is the galactic war of good versus evil: its cosmic clashes commences day-to-day between God our Father and Satan; between the Biblical born again brothers and sisters  that make up the Church and the world system  which is sync and supervised by Satan who is the unparalleled and undisputed rebellious and salacious spiritual enemy of God and his people. Furthermore, this forever-forward enemy is allied with countless demons in their assault against us. This spiritual warfare is also taking place within every son or daughter of the Most High God, between the Holy Spirit and the insatiable lusts of the corruptible and forceful and convincing flesh.

 The clear-cut connotations of good and evil, as outlined by our omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient God instead of man and are revealed in the word of God (The Holy scriptures) and the life of our Lord and only Savior Jesus Christ.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

Our opening text elevates an eternal truth as well as echoes the exclusivity of those who have access to these weapons which are essential to wage in this war and win the war.

Ephesians 6:13–18 delivers us a description of the spiritual armor that God gives us. We are to remain firm with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit, and by praying in the Spirit.

Our Lord Jesus Christ  is our greatest case of confronting and conquering temptation in spiritual warfare. (Matthew 4:1–11).

The key to successful spiritual warfare is to BE RESOLUTE IN RELYING ON THE POWER OF GOD not our own.  Weaponize ourselves with HIS WORD AND SPIRIT. We put on the whole armor of God. We proceed under the power of Scripture and the Holy Spirit is our source of power to pummel our enemies.

In our next time together, we will turn our attention to the enemies’ strongholds and how to topple them.

Remember the Power for the Battle, the Purpose of the Battle and the Procurement of Victory of the battle IS THE LORD’S.
