A Prophets Place of Peril changes to a Prayer Closet of Praise

Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, Jonah 2:1

In the 2015 Christian drama War Room directed by Alex Kendrick and co authored with Stephen Kendrick a couple was caught in a crippling marital crisis. The spouse (Elizabeth) came across the path of someone we would refer to as a prayer warrior. (Miss Clara). By profession Elizabeth was a realtor and Miss Clara had secured her services to sell her home.

Miss Clara perceived the predicament that Elizabeth was confronted with pertaining to her marriage and proceeded to point her to the Power of the utilization of Prayer as well as her specialized location of prayer. (Her prayer closet a.k.a. WAR ROOM)

In the word of God there was a prophet possessing a heart rife with rebellion. He foolishly paid a fare to free himself from the presence and plan that God had for him and ended up on a cruise of calamity. His name was Jonah.

Jonah 1:3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

To put the prophet in the right place and path our Father and God sent a great wind and a whale which caused Jonah to worship and pray in a specialized war room (The belly of a whale).

Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared (To tell- appointed) a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Now it is important to note that I referenced the creature that swallowed Jonah, a whale because it is what the Lord Jesus called the creature. Christ our Lord referenced this historical event to direct people to His death and resurrection.

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

A Couple of closing thoughts about Jonah turning his peril in a prayer closet of praise.

*Jonah cried out to God because he was caught in a set circumstance.

Jonah 2:2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

*Humility delivered him from his hell.

There will be occasions in our lives that our own choices of carnality will cause us to be swallowed for our chastening.

*Jonah enjoyed blessed assurance because he believed god- what god was going to do.

* Jonah turned his trial into Thanksgiving.

Jonah 2:9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

WHEN WE ARE EXPERIENCING TREMENDOUS TRIALS, TROUBLE, TEMPTATION TURN TO THE TEMPLE OF GOD (Where God is) So let’s purpose to walk in our WAR ROOM for worship and prayer!

Not a sermon, just some thoughts.
